DYNASTY MARINE ASSOCIATES – SEEKING HUSBANDRY MANAGER

 

 

Dynasty Marine Associates, Inc., www.dynastymarine.net, the most highly respected supplier of Caribbean fish and marine life to public aquariums and zoos throughout the world, is looking for a Husbandry Manager to manage our holding facility and oversee ongoing husbandry.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

• Maintain best practices, animal husbandry systems and processes
• Assure fulfillment of all daily, weekly, and monthly procedures as outlines in SOP
• Remain “on call” 24 hours/day during scheduled working days
• Oversee the proper maintenance and operation of equipment and machinery
• Maintain records and data up to date
• Maintain appropriate stock of all supplies in the holding facility, including packing supplies, feeds, and spare parts for maintenance of LSS equipment
• Manage people (hiring, firing, training, and scheduling)
• Promote the health of all animals through medications and prophylactics
• Issue the Lab report at the end of the day
• Assign Lab staff and assist in the development of new projects and the addressing of any problems
• Place orders with import fish suppliers on a needed basis, and coordinate pick up with the Driver

 

Secondary Responsibilities:
• Help put away incoming fish off the boat
• Unpack any incoming shipments
• Assist the Lab crew with daily procedures and fill in when needed
• Administer internships and manage interns
• Issue and maintain the work schedule for the lab staff.

 

Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in marine biology, Environmental Science or related field
• A minimum of two years of experience working within a public aquarium or related facility
• People management skills and experience required
• Knowledge of filtration and LSS systems
• Strong animal husbandry skills required
• Ability to update and maintain aquaria pumps, filters, and basic plumbing knowledge
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the job
• Ability to work weekends and extended hours
• Availability to be “On call” as the first contact during “on duty” days
• Reside within 10 minutes of the facilities

 

The full-time position, 45-50 hours per week, and located in Marathon, FL, the heart of the beautiful Florida Keys. Compensation is dependent on experience with performance-based incentive program.
